You’ve just heard those magic words from the client: “That’s great; please can you now put that in a proposal”.
If you have the choice, submit the proposal as a personal letter not a report. It doesn’t matter if the letter gets very long. I’ve submitted some proposal letters that are greater than 15 pages.
A report looks too final and if there are points that they do not agree with, they may reject the proposal rather than letting you amend it. On the other hand, a letter invites changes and I usually find that it is the second pass that achieves client acceptance.
